Julius Karoubi's Eating a mango sorbet is a mixed media work combining polymer plaster, acrylic paint, grout, and stained pine. The surface presents horizontal bands of fragmented, map-like imagery separated by white strips running across the composition, with coloured sections in greens, oranges, blues, browns, and grays alternating between brighter and more muted passages. Grout lines and varied surface relief give the work a mosaic quality, with some areas showing stippled or speckled texture that catches light differently from the smoother divisions between registers. The overall effect is of a shallow but layered surface, where the white carved or applied lines impose a geometric order on what reads as accumulated, fragmentary material. The stained pine support would be worth examining closely, as its edge and finish contribute to how the work sits against a wall.
